Safety & Quality

Safe delivery and verified quality are part of the work.

USS integrates competence, planning, supervision, inspection and reporting into the delivery model from pre-construction through handover.

01 / Safety Framework

Project-specific controls, not generic paperwork.

We treat health, safety and environmental stewardship as active site disciplines. Every project begins with an environment-specific risk assessment, checking lifting paths, live services, working at height, and site segregation.

Supervisors hold daily toolbox talks, enforce PPE standards, administer permits to work, and escalate changes immediately.

Active Safety Disciplines:

  • Scope and environment review prior to mobilisation
  • Project-specific RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)
  • Rigorous competence and CSCS / CCNSG card validation
  • Site induction, morning briefings & daily toolbox talks
  • Permit-to-work and electrical/mechanical isolation compliance
  • Plant, MEWP, crane and lifting tackle planning (LOLER/PUWER)
  • Work-area containment, dust suppression and noise mitigation
  • Daily supervision and immediate escalation of site changes
  • Near-miss recording and root-cause incident prevention

02 / Quality Assurance

Build quality progressively rather than inspect it only at the end.

Inspection points, tolerances, evidence requirements and responsibility for acceptance are agreed before or during mobilisation. USS can work within the client's inspection and test plans (ITPs), reporting systems and document-control process.

Quality activities include incoming material checks, first-off assembly approval, optical laser alignment logs, torque audits, photographic evidence, and progressive snag rectification.

Cross-Border Governance

European Mobilisation Compliance

European work may require posted-worker notifications, A1 social-security certificates, local safety training, site registration, tax review and additional insurance. USS confirms applicable requirements country-by-country before deploying teams.

03 / Pre-Qualification Evidence

Supporting evidence available during pre-qualification.

USS provides relevant policies, employers and public liability insurance evidence, technician competence matrixes, sample RAMS, and approved accreditation certificates as part of a proportionate supplier or project review.

Documentation Verification: CHAS compliance certificates, insurance schedules (£10m public liability), and sample project execution packs are available on request for qualified procurement audits.
